Lees Deur Kleur’s reading system is fully bilingual, it is available in both English and Afrikaans.

We use colour and symbols to illustrate to the learner how sounds come together to form words.

The Lees Deur Kleur system was originally designed for children with learning difficulties and is therefore ideal for children who are reading difficulties such as Dyslexia, ADHD, etc. Whoever has proven equally as effective for grade R-3.

As far as we know our reading system is one of the only systems across the world which successfully combines coding and decoding with word-recognition into one system.

The Lees Deur Kleur system is not Grade based but was rather written to teach children the foundation of reading and phoneme.

The system establishes phonemic awareness at an early age, through the use of colour, helping to retain the different phonemes in the brain.

Our system only uses three colours and three symbols in combination bolding and underlining to keep the system as simple as possible but yet effective.

In our books we use the system in sentences and short simple stories for the learner to practice the phonemes they have learnt.
